New Designs Brewing...

Hello!

Its all back to business as usual now that the big Jubilee party has ended, the kids are back at school and the bunting has been taken down (or rather - blown away in a gale force wind!)...

With June now well under way, the realisation that the number of weeks to the Autumn Fair International are rapidly decreasing, has added a bit of extra 'va va voom' to my plans for my next big range of greetings cards!

In the past week I've managed to grab some quality designing time, stuck on some good tunes and got going with some new pretty, summery illustrations.  I'm letting you all have a very cheeky glimpse at some of what I've been doing.  I can't reveal too much as its all a work in progress.  However, some of the designs will end up being available as illustration prints from my online shops soon, so watch this space :)

An Extraordinary Weekend and Give Away Winner

Hello and a very BIG welcome to lots of new followers and likers, good to see you all here!

Wowsers, what a wonderful weekend in spite of the rain...

Well it wouldn't be a very British celebration if we didn't get a bit of a soaking - it all added to the occasion I think! Personally, I was extremely impressed by the choir with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday's finale, for belting out the anthems whilst getting completely drenched in the heavy downpour - that's the kind of spirit that makes me proud to be a Brit!

I'm also amazed at the stamina The Queen has for a lady of her age - she really deserved the celebrations she got...60 dutiful years of acting as a shining example to inspire others, particularly in her role as head of the armed services - I can't help but respect the woman!

If you celebrated all things Jubilee, I hope you all had a thoroughly great time too :)

See me up there in my cheesy snap shot - that was taken whilst revelling in the celebrations taking place in our town's High Street on Sunday.  Please note I'm using my own kind of flag semaphore in this pic which says 'Look! those are my cards!!!'... there they are, nestled in between cards from The Illustrators and Emma Bridgewater in the window of our local book shop.  I guess I can now say I 'AM On The High Street!' tee hee!...that really was a bonus to see those amongst all the jubilations!

Jubilee Fever Give Away!

Hello, Jubilee Fever certainly has arrived - are you suffering with it too? 

This week I have mostly been sewing cheap Union Jack flags to old dressing-up princess costumes and gluing red, white and blue things left, right and centre...I now need to go and sort the catering side of things and then its Street Party and Picnics here we come!

A Productive Few Days

Happy May Day!

I do love getting packages arrive in the post.  The other day I had my order of blue and plum coloured bakers twine arrive from Pretty Fabrics and Trims and my new mini cards from moo.com land on my door mat.  Which had me fiddling about with parcelling up bundles of my cards ready to photograph them and load them to my website...

Now that all the Post Office postage price increases are in place and I've got a better handle on what the true costs are for my products, it got me thinking of better ways to add value to compensate for having to raise postage costs generally.  Naturally the answer is to try and get as much in a package as possible up to the postage weight threshold, that way you can offer the discount on each item for saving on posting 

items individually.

I've done a fair bit of photographing and listing in the past few days as my on-line shops needed to be given a bit of TLC (they've been a bit neglected lately)...also, I don't even think I've had a moment to let you know about my 2 new on-line shops...

But its not all been about listing items...I've been acquiring a few lately too.  You'll see a little stash below of gorgeous things that are now in my possession.  The lovely bunny is a gift from my friend Marna over at Little A Designs.  I won the pretty crochet brooch and hair slides in Victoria Rose Crafts give-away, which I'm delighted about as Rose from Victoria Rose got me started on all these logo and branding packages, so when I wear the brooch (which I have been doing a lot recently) it holds a lot of meaning for me as I am truly grateful to Rose for getting me going on something that has turned out to be quite successful 

and something I really enjoy - Thank you Rose! :)

The other gorgeous brooch is from one of my favourite Folksy/ Not on The High Street sellers, Polka.  There were a few brooches in Andrea's shop that have been calling my name for a while now, but that little apple dinky brooch really does it for me, so I treated myself...

Actually the apple brooch from Polka looks fab sat next to the Victoria Rose brooch on my jacket and together they zap some colour back into these grey days we've been having lately...

Come on summer sunshine, as Delia Smith would say "Let's be havin' ya!"
