Countdown to Christmas...

Hello!

Now that December has arrived and the pre Christmas chaos begins, I will be taking a break from my usual blog post series 'This Much I Know' and 'Something Pinteresting' as something needs to give.

I will bring them back in the New Year, perhaps with some other new inspirations.
Meanwhile, I have decided to take up an advent illustration challenge.
This time last year I saw many illustrators take up the challenge of creating an illustration a day for a countdown to Christmas.  It looked lots of fun, so I vowed to myself to create some time this year to have a go myself.

So here are Days 1 & 2.  I shared these on instagram and facebook, but will do regular round ups on here so there's plenty of chances to see them and get in the festive spirit...

It's good to see lots of other illustrators are also having a go at this challenge this year and I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with each day up until Christmas.  If you want to see what all the fuss is about or to join in the fun and festivities, here are some useful hashtags:

Showcasing This Year's Collection of Christmas Cards...

Hello,

Today's post is a quick round up of my current collection of Christmas Cards.

This year I am mainly offering three main multipacks.

The first of those is pictured above and is part of my 'Tis The Season' range.
It features six merry and bright designs based on the titles of popular Christmas songs. All created with a cheery, playfulness in my winter wonderland!....

The second multipack is a sweet collection featuring festive puddings and desserts for those who love to indulge in all the treats of the season, or simply enjoy baking such delights for their loved ones...

The third pack is a pack of six from my original 'Tis The Season' range which is more pattern focused.

The image below is a store shot from last year from a local stockist.  It's a very handy image as it nicely shows most of the designs in all of these packs in one place!...

You can find all the cards featured on this post listed in my online shops here:

Each pack is £10 plus P&P for six cards.

I'll be back tomorrow with the next part of my 'This Much I know' series, which will be on the topic of branding, I hope you can join me then.

Best wishes

Half Term Photoshoot Fun...

Happy half term to those of you with little 'uns too!
I've been having some fun today with my two little ladies.  We've been combining work and play and they've both been earning their pocket money by helping me get some lifestyle images of my new Christmas gift wraps...

They were very enthusiastic to help out as it was a great excuse to play dressing up.
They also learnt a very valuable lesson.  Being a model is hard work - especially trying to hold a pose still to get the perfect shot...

I've been busy trying to get a few images to gradually list my Christmas stock to my online shops.  It's that time of year where tinkering with images, websites and product listings fill lots of time...

These images are a few of the ones I've captured over the past few days...

Like it or not, it is definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas as shops need to be made ready.

I'll be back on Wednesday sharing the next post in my series 'This Much I Know', sharing some business tips.

Until then, have a lovely day!

New Festive Patterns.

Hello,

Over the past few weeks I have been busy working on a few new pattern designs for autumn into next spring.  Earlier in the year I launched my first fabric range and I wanted to expand my fabric offering, top up my Spoonflower shop and create some new gift wraps, so that's why I've been getting busy pattern making and thoroughly enjoying it.

Today, I want to let you have a good look at the three new festive patterns.  I have also released some of my popular existing Christmas designs to my Spoonflower shop and I am pleased to say that they are now available to order on fabrics.

The pattern at the top is my Partridge in a Pear Tree and can be found here:

Above is Christmas Doves and Roses:

The final one to show you today is Christmas Lodges In The Snow:

There are plenty of non festive designs over at my Spoonflower shop too.  Here's where you'll find me over there:

I'll be back blogging tomorrow as I have lined up new mid week mini series of business tips and things I've learnt along the way.  Every Wednesday, hopefully up until Christmas, I will be sharing my 'This Much I Know' series which covers all sorts of things I have learnt from running a small creative business for five years.  Tomorrow's subject will be all about tips for being creative and staying inspired. I hope you can join me.

Until then, have a lovely day!
Best wishes

'Failing to Plan is to Planning Fail' - So Let's Make Some Beautiful Plans!

 Hello,

November seemed to whizz by - sorry it's been such a long time since my last blog post.
November has been the month of 'the planner' for me.  It's something I've wanted to launch as product for a while.  The reason being, over the past year I have been making more of an effort to be more efficient in my own business planning in attempt to avoid some of the things that caused problems for me and my little business in the past.

One of the benefits of a few years experience of this design and online selling m'larky is that I can clearly to see patterns in what works and what doesn't work.   I can see the little habits I've formed for tackling tasks (or, being perfectly honest, at times avoiding them!).  Sometimes these habits are good, sometimes they aren't.  Looking at them all objectively has really helped me put together a better plan for 2014.

And guess what? on the whole, my plan is working for me!...Plans work - who knew?!

On the back of this little personal revelation of mine, I began to design my wallplanner for 2015 - the one I wanted to put by my desk.  Something lovely to make me feel happy and inspired by the tasks that lay ahead.  Something very practical, easy to use with decent space for my messy frenetic handwriting (I can never get ideas on paper fast enough!)....

Here it is - my happy, bright and pretty planner for me to 'Make Beautiful Plans' throughout 2015.

Then I turned my attention to my lovely regular customers, the ones I know and chat to often.  Many of whom have their own craft or baking businesses - I figured that they would probably feel the same way as me about wanting to make plans on something lovely for their craft space, studio or kitchen walls.  So, two more wall planner designs came into being....

and

Having a yearly planner is simply not enough though - there are plans that need to be made each week and each day.

I set to work on a further six designs - a daily and a weekly planner in each of the same three themes as my wall planners.  These planners are now available as printable downloads or as A5 (148 x 210mm) 40 page, spiral bound notebooks....

The digital printable download versions are available from my Etsy shop here.

The notebooks are available from both my Folksy and Etsy shops...

So far so good on the launch of my new products.  It seems I am not alone in my desire for something colourful and lovely to plan important life and work stuff on.

The first wave of the orders for these have all been sent out and this morning my message in boxes have welcomed me with lots of lovely feedback from happy customers who now have their planners.   I think my favourite reaction of all of them has to be this very simple and direct one:

"Parcel received. It's bloody stunning!"

Thank you - that comment made me smile from ear to ear.  It makes all the work I put into creating these planners last month worth every minute!!...

On the subject of planning, it's time to say Happy December to you all and it's time for us all to crack on with plans for Christmas.  There's still plenty of time to shop regardless of all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday frenzy! Here is some useful info to help with your shopping plans...
