Sleepy Cat in a Spring Garden - Playing with Patterns

Hello,
Hope this blog post finds you well.

The past couple of weeks have felt like a little bit of a struggle as it's the season of colds and flu and I've been carrying my dose around with me, which has left me feeling a little lack lustre.
So I felt it was important to carve out some creative play time.  For me that meant exploring a little more pattern making. I'd drawn some spring flowers in my sketch book that had been inspired by the little snowdrops and crocuses that are popping their heads up in my garden and making me smile...

I scanned the drawings and started adding colour.
The bright zingy orange of the crocus seemed to determine the colours and made me think of a certain marmalade coloured tom cat that frequently visits our garden - so he's made it into the designs too...

All in all, it's been a fairly good way to nurse a cold and I feel like I've achieved something - even if it wasn't what I was supposed to be achieving!
As John Lennon once said "Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted!"

My new Sleepy Cat design is now available to be printed on demand onto all kinds of everything over at my Society 6 shop.

Have a lovely day!
Best wishes

New Festive Patterns.

Hello,

Over the past few weeks I have been busy working on a few new pattern designs for autumn into next spring.  Earlier in the year I launched my first fabric range and I wanted to expand my fabric offering, top up my Spoonflower shop and create some new gift wraps, so that's why I've been getting busy pattern making and thoroughly enjoying it.

Today, I want to let you have a good look at the three new festive patterns.  I have also released some of my popular existing Christmas designs to my Spoonflower shop and I am pleased to say that they are now available to order on fabrics.

The pattern at the top is my Partridge in a Pear Tree and can be found here:

Above is Christmas Doves and Roses:

The final one to show you today is Christmas Lodges In The Snow:

There are plenty of non festive designs over at my Spoonflower shop too.  Here's where you'll find me over there:

I'll be back blogging tomorrow as I have lined up new mid week mini series of business tips and things I've learnt along the way.  Every Wednesday, hopefully up until Christmas, I will be sharing my 'This Much I Know' series which covers all sorts of things I have learnt from running a small creative business for five years.  Tomorrow's subject will be all about tips for being creative and staying inspired. I hope you can join me.

Until then, have a lovely day!
Best wishes

Back to School and Down To Business...

Hello!

September is here and our girls are back in the swing of the school routine.  I am also back in full swing with work and have really been enjoying playing with pattern these past few days.

I wanted to create some patterns to update my Society 6 & Spoonflower shops whilst giving me some new designs to include in some new products for my Folksy and Etsy shops...

I seem to have a big thing for British garden birds, butterflies and an abundance of colourful flowers.  It may have something to do with the inspiration I gathered over the summer from lots of days out with the kids to local National Trust places such as Dunster Castle and Montacute House. The ornate Tudor tapestries at Montacute especially, with details of birds and flowers really captured my imagination!...

Here are my two latest designs which have already been added to my Society 6 shop.

The pink pattern is called 'Blackbirds' and the teal pattern is called 'Bluetits and Blackbirds'...

Just as I finished adding these designs to Society 6 I got a notification that they are running a free worldwide shipping promo until the 13th Sept - so it looks like my timing was spot on!. Here's a link to that promo:

I've also been working on my 2016 wall calendars which will be ready to go to print in the next few days.  As soon as these are off to the printers I will pop a pre-order listing up on my sites so keep an eye out for those.  If you are a lovely email subscriber, you will be sent an email with a link first.  To subscribe to my emails here's a link:

Here's a little peep at which images have made the cut for this year's calendar...

This year it will be completely illustrations in the calendar (handy framing size once the year is up).  I am also working on a smaller 2016 desk calendar featuring some of my patterns, more about that soon!

Until then, have a lovely week!

Best wishes
